Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre

I've had a bit of a blogger's block recently, my bad! Hopefully, I get back on track with this post. It's only a short post but definitely a product worth writing about! With all this cold windy weather happening right now, my skin's been more on the dry combination side (I've been noticing dry patches on my nose, forehead and cheeks...uh oh!). My tube of Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre has been sitting on the shelf for a while now since I find that it is a bit too rich on my skin during the warmer months, making my skin feel too oily for my liking, but this has been such a life-saver for my dry skin lately! My dry skin drinks it up immediately and feels more hydrated .... dry patches be gone! Not only is this cream a good moisturiser, it can also be used as a primer, make-up remover and also helps to reduce irritation on the skin caused by shaving. It is an emollient oil and contains a combination of natural active ingredients such as good ol' shea butter, beeswax, aloe vera and soy proteins. It is also paraben-free. There is a slight scent to it (nothing over-powering, quite pleasant actually)...umm... an unscented kinda scent if that makes any sense?? All I have to say is it's definitely a beauty must-have for a good reason!

What's your favourite moisturiser?

Revlon Colorstay One-Stroke Defining Liner

I was recently on the hunt for a dark brown eyeliner, I wanted something less harsh than my usual blackest of black liners. Unfortunately, my favourite brand of long-wear eyeliner, the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil liner, is not easily available in Hong Kong and I tried a lot of high-end brands that just didn't seem to have the smudge-proof factor that I was looking for. So I was in Sasa one day and decided to check out the Revlon section where I found the perfect dark brown. I swatched it, allowed it to dry and then gave it a good rub... hardly budged! Colour me impressed!

Catrice Cosmetics Ultimate Nudes in 050 Moulin Rouge Light

I picked up this Catrice Cosmetics Ultimate Nudes nail polish in Moulin Rouge Light during my trip to Thailand. I first heard about Catrice Cosmetics through a friend of mine from Germany, she knows I love makeup so for my birthday sent me a bunch of limited edition Catrice goodies for me to try since I've never tried this brand before.

Soap and Glory Glossed For Words Gift Set

I recently took a small trip to Bangkok and on my To Do List was definitely a visit or three to Boots! My goodness....you don't know how much I miss and love this store! When I was in the UK, I would go into a Boots almost 3 times a week (sometimes more!) and I would always find one thing or another to buy. One of the brands I miss the most is Soap and Glory, so you best know that I stocked up on a few things! I picked up one of the Christmas gift sets - Glossed for Words, which is a 5-piece set of their Sexy Mother Pucker glosses.

Love by Chloe

I got Love by Chloe as a Christmas gift from a friend when the perfume first came out and I liked it when I tested it out on those tester paper thingys (What are they called?), but since getting it and trying it on my skin I found it too strong for me so I've left it alone for quite a while. But recently, I decided to give it another chance and I've decided that I quite like it for the Autumn/Winter months. The notes include orange blossom, pink pepper, iris, lilac, hyacinth, wisteria blossom, powdery musks, talc and rice powder. In simpler words, the perfume is very feminine, sensual and sophisticated with a mostly powdery floral scent. I think what I didn't like about this perfume at first was the overall powdery scent, it's quite strong I must say! I personally found it too strong as an every day perfume. However, I'm currently loving it and have been wearing it every day. I spray this once on my wrists, rub them together and then rub my wrists on both sides of my neck...and one spray is all you need! The powdery scent does die down after several hours and you get more of a sensual floral scent. It's an eau de parfum...and being so strong...the scent stays on for the whole day!

Have you tried Love by Chloe? If yes, what do you think of it?

Origins Masks - Out of Trouble, Clear Improvement and Drink Up

I recently bought this Origins Christmas gift set that consists of three masks - Out of Trouble, Clear Improvement and Drink Up. The combination of these three masks have been doing wonders for my oily combination skin! For several months now, if I have makeup on I'm literally shiny within an hour or if I don't I'm shiny within 2 - 3 hours.... It's super annoying, I tell ya! So I went by an Origins counter recently and checked out their Christmas gift sets (which are all such good value for money!), I came across this three piece mask set and was sold! I've not delved much into Origins skincare, prior to this I only owned their Drink Up Intensive Overnight mask which I absolutely love so I thought I'd try out this set...and so far I love it!

Been slacking with my blog posts lately, my bad! But I've got a little mini NYX haul for you. Escentric Molecules - Molecule 01 Perfume

Escentric Molecules - Molecule 01

A few months ago, a lot of my favourite bloggers were raving about a perfume that is formulated to react with your own natural pheromones to create your very own individual scent. This unique scent is so unique that apparently people will be hunting you down just to ask you what scent it is.... okay, maybe not that extreme but there's a high chance you will get complimented and asked about the scent! Being an avid perfume collector, my fingers were itching to try it for myself.

Illamasqua Powder Blushers Colllection - Panic, Hussy, Nymph, Thrust, Lover and Tremble

First and foremost, HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY ILLAMASQUA!!

Today's post is dedicated to my collection of Illamasqua powder blushers. Illamasqua's powder blushers are definitely one of my favourite products from this amazing brand, majority of them are matte which is great for my combination skin. The blushers are extremely pigmented and just such beautiful colours! Just love them! I know some people might find them a bit too powdery but with the right brush and a good light hand, you really can't go wrong!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

I haven't dressed up for Halloween for quite a few years now but I thought I'd share this photo of me, back in 2008, dressed as one of those Japanese ghost girls! I took a plain white long t-shirt, torn it up in a few areas and threw some fake blood on it. Then for my body (whatever was going to be on show), I used a sponge to apply a greyish blue face and body paint that you can easily find in fancy dress shops...for best results dab the sponge onto the body for a more dead rotting feel. I covered my face with the same greyish blue paint and used a mixture of black, blue, purple and green eyeliner and just drew all over my eye area - adding and blending colours here and there till I was satisfied that the eyes looked deathlike. To complete the look, I had my hair cover half of my face and since it was black already it really completed the look. This was such an easy Halloween look to do and I did actually manage to scare quite a few people!! It was loads of fun!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!

Nuxe Lip Moisturising Stick

Nuxe Lip Moisturising Stick

If you've seen my post on Nuxe's Ultra-nourishing Lip Balm, you'll know that I love using it when I have extremely dry lips but I don't normally carry it out with me because the packaging is bulky and I don't really like sticking my fingers in it when I'm out...hygiene and what not! So I picked up their Lip Moisturising Stick and this is what I usually carry around with me in my bag. Now I don't find this as moisturising and rich as the Ultra-nourishing Lip Balm but it does a good-ish job and I usually reapply every 2 - 3 hours. It is a clear balm with a mild scent to it, similar to that of the ULB. I probably won't repurchase this again when it runs out... only because at £6 it is a bit cheaper than ULB (£9.50) but it comes with less product (4g) than ULB (15g). I still stay if you've got extremely dry chapped lips, especially now that it's almost winter, then do check out the Nuxe Ultra-nourishing Lip Balm :)

LUSH Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter

Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter

I'm usually a big fan of Lush products, however today's post is not really much of a rave review. I recently bought the Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter as it has been a product that I've been wanting to try out for a while. Now I'm not really one to fuss about my cuticles because I personally don't find that they are that bad, slap on a bit of hand cream and they're good as new. But recently I've noticed that the skin surrounding my fingernail has been a bit dryer than usual so I thought I would give Lemony Flutter a go!

MAC Eye Shadow in Ricepaper and Satin Taupe

MAC Eye Shadow in (L-R): Ricepaper and Satin Taupe

Uh-oh...my MAC obsession is slowly but surely growing! I've been into makeup for many years, and one of my first ever lipglosses was from MAC but I found it so sticky and since then I haven't really explored MAC makeup...funny how one sticky lipgloss steered me away from MAC for so many years! However, in the last 2 or 3 years, I've been getting into MAC products more and more... I love their Liquidlast Liner in Point Black, extremely black and long-lasting on my oily lids even though the liner does get gloopy after a while. And of course, I've also been getting into their lipsticks as well, you can see my latest posts on two of the lipsticks in their latest Marilyn Monroe collection and my post on my favourite completely matte lipstick, Ruby Woo.

A few weeks ago, I was in Heathrow's T3 Duty Free and I could not resist heading straight to the MAC counter. I had to wait quite a while to be served because for some reason there was only one girl working in the store and she was actually doing makeup on another customer...Poor thing, felt bad for her because she had to keep apologising to the growing number of waiting customers. Anyway, I have been eyeing these Ricepaper and Satin Taupe for a while now so I had to get them, especially at the £10 duty free price!

New shoes: Black studded flats!

I recently bought these shoes on sale from The Walker Shop, which is a shoe store in Hong Kong. I spotted them immediately because they look very similar to the Zara Studded Pony Skin Slippers, only that the studs aren't pointy like the Zara ones. I've been wanting flats like these for ages but can never find any that looked right on my feet...what with my flat-footedness and all! But these ones don't look too bad and hopefully once I break them in, they should be more comfortable...as of yet, they've given me blisters at the backs of my ankles! When I first tried these on, I did feel that the hairiness of the shoes took some getting used to and I still kinda feel that way but all in all I'm really liking these shoes!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Ebony (and a little update!)

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Ebony
Helloooooo everyone!

Sorry for the lack of updates! Last few weeks have been quite hectic for me... I've left London and moved back to Hong Kong, hopefully not for good but for now a good long while!! I had been living in the UK for 7 years so you can imagine how much stuff I had to pack and organise before leaving. Now I'm back in Hong Kong and slowly getting a routine together. It was very hard to leave the UK... leaving some of my best friends behind and leaving somewhere I've called home for 7 years and going back to Hong Kong where I've never actually lived in before (as I grew up in Nigeria before going to the UK) and starting all over again! I already miss London so much! But anyway!! I've got a little post for you!

I recently watched one of Holly Ann-Aeree's videos, I think it was one of her amazingly long Hits and Misses videos which are always a joy to watch... should be the latest one, here's the link. She mentioned she was using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo for her brows and I was sold.... girl always has great brows! So I went on Cult Beauty and bought it in Ebony (for black hair tones). I gotta say I'm loving it! In Holly's words "It's so life changing for the brows!"

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in #720 Notting Hill Nude

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in  #720 Notting Hill Nude
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks are one of my favourite drugstore lipsticks, I have so many of them in my collection and it's still growing! They're pigmented and moisturising (not to mention they are affordable!). They also contain vitamin A, C & E, anti-oxidants and SPF 20 to protect the lips from sun damage.

I recently picked up Notting Hill Nude because I just can't get enough of nude lipsticks, and Rimmel's Nude Delight and Spotlight Beige are one of my favourite nudes and most-suited for my skintone (no dead looking lips!), so I thought Notting Hill Nude would be a good addition to the collection.

NOTD: Essie Master Plan

I currently have Essie Master Plan on my nails - a really lovely soft brownish grey (some may call it "greige"). I've got so many polishes like this but this is definitely my favourite, it's not too light that it's almost a nude and not too dark that it's almost a dark mushroom brown. The other great thing about this polish is that it's from the Boots diffusion line so the brush is wider than the normal Essie brushes which makes application soooo much better! I have Seche Vite top coat on and the nail colour is still going strong after 5 days!! No chips or tip wear - amazing!

Nuxe Reve de Miel Hand and Nail Cream

I've been trying out quite a few Nuxe products lately, I've especially been loving this hand and nail cream (one of their best-sellers) which repairs, nourishes and protects dry and damaged hands. It contains honey, sunflower, precious oils and vitamin E, which help to moisturise the hands as well as protecting it from signs of ageing. I LOVE the smell of this hand cream, it's absolutely divine...not too heavy. The cream is also easily absorbed into the skin and doesn't feel greasy, I usually use a pea-sized amount. It lasts quite long on the hands, I find that I usually use this maybe 2 - 3 times a day and my hands are moisturised and soft.

Hello everyone!! I'm currently in Hong Kong and it's been sooooo hot and humid that I've kept my makeup down to a minimal! I recently had Boudoir Lashes done as well (I shall be doing a post on that soon!), so my makeup application time has been cut down by half the time. June Glossybox

I was actually meant to cancel my Glossybox subscription but forgot to do so earlier this month and so ended up receiving this month's box. After unboxing it, I reached for my laptop, logged on to the Glossybox website and clicked cancel.

In my box, I received a Glossybox Serie Exclusiv Pro Beauty Brush (which didn't really appeal to me at all); MeMeMe Cosmetics Sensuous Nail Gloss (nice nude peach colour); BM Beauty Summer Warmth Bronzer (looking forward to trying this); Caudalie Eau Fraiche in Fleur de Vigne (scent: fresh, grapefruit, tangerine, cedar); Vichy Dermablend Ultra-corrective Foundation Cream Stick sample starter kit.

I'm so disappointed with this month's box, the only things I would enjoy are the BM Beauty bronzer and the Caudalie Eau Fraiche...all the rest I can do without. The brush feels and looks cheap, I doubt I'll even use it. MeMeMe nail polish is a nice colour but I'm not really much of a fan of the brand. Finally, the most disappointing thing for me is the Dermablend sample kit...I mean I can sample these in Boots for crying out loud! Anyway, sorry if I sound very negative in this post but honestly I personally think that this box is probably the worst one I've received. I was so unhappy with it that I wasn't even going to do a post on it but I thought I'd share. I've seen the other products other people have received, and some of the other products seem to be a bit better (like the HD brow tweezers and Green People Sun Lotion) but I guess that's the luck of the beauty box draw!

What do you think about this month's Glossybox?

Real Techniques Blush Brush

Right...So I've FINALLY jumped on the Real Techniques bandwagon! I see what everyone's raving about now and my goodness...am I in love! I was actually waiting to see if Boots were going to do another 3 for 2 offer on the brushes but so far it hasn't happened yet so I decided to only pick up the blush brush for the time being. I will DEFINITELY be getting the other brushes though that's fo' sho! This blush brush is great for contouring and defining the cheeks, as well as blending out the product flawlessly. I've been reaching for this pretty much every day since I started using it, because I love the result it gives my cheeks. The bristles are ultra-soft...when I used this for the first time I did a little "ahhhhhh....mmmm...." moment because of how soft it is! The bristles are also synthetic so product stays on the surface and does not seep into the bristles so you use up less product. I also love that the Real Techniques brushes are self-standing which is quite a handy way to store the brush. Overall, VERY IMPRESSED with Real Techniques! I can't wait to try out the other brushes... they're already on my wishlist :)

Steamcream

Steamcream is an all-in-one natural moisturiser that can be used on the face, body, and hands. Made fresh from high quality, natural ingredients that are fused together by a shot of steam which makes the cream lightweight and highly hydrating on the skin. You can view the list of ingredients here. It smells strongly of lavender to me which isn't my favourite scent in the world but I can get over it. I love the consistency of the cream, it's lightweight and absorbs very quickly. I prefer to use this on my hands and occasionally on my face (generally during night time because I find that it can be too oily for me during the day time). A little goes a long way with this cream! They come in a variety of limited edition tins that you can reuse to store other things. I first got introduced to Steamcream by my best friend who bought one for me as a Christmas present a few years ago (she got me a blue rose tin edition) and I loved it, especially with all the different collectable tins (I'm a bit of a collector/hoarder if you haven't realised already...ahem!). With the Jubilee Weekend just gone by, Steamcream released a few London-themed tins in celebration of that weekend - I decided to go for the Big Ben one because I just thought it was so pretty! You can check out the other London-themed designs on their website, most of them are still available so if you want to get your hands on one then do! Or there's a choice of lots of other designs as well :)

Steamcream is available on their official website, ASOS, and many other stockists, for more or less £13. A bit pricey but it does last a long time if you use it for your face and hands, obviously if you use it on your whole body then it won't last that long! Steamcream is probably one of my favourite moisturisers that I've ever used and would definitely recommend it to others.

LUSH Tea Tree Water Toner Water

Toner is probably one of the things I tend to neglect the most in my skincare routine, I can never really notice much of a difference from using it but I know that it helps to rebalance the skin after using cleanser. I recently decided to reintroduce toner back into my skincare routine and I opted for Lush's Tea Tree Water Toner Water, as I have oily/combination skin and the sales assistant suggested this...plus I used to use a few tea tree oil products during my acne prone years and it really helped a lot! Anything containing tea tree is great for oily/acne prone skin because tea tree has antiseptic properties so it really helps to prevent excess sebum turning into spots or helps to reduce existing spots.

The palette comes with 12 matte eyeshadow colours that are extremely pigmented (as with all of Sleek's eyeshadow palettes). This palette is great for everyday wear, especially for more subtle neutral looks...I sometimes find that eyeshadows that have too much shimmer can be a bit overpowering for everyday.
